Eu Road Safety Conference

Transport ministers of the Member states of the European Union, meeting in Valletta on 29th March 2017, reconfirmed their commitment to improving road safety. The ministers have undertaken to continue and reinforce measures necessary to halve the number of road deaths in the Eu by 2020 from the 2010 baseline. They will undertake to enhance cooperation between Member States, including relevant authorities, and with civil society, research institutes and the private sector, in particular with regard to road safety plans and strategies following a risk-based or an integrated approach.

Moreover, the ministers will undertake to improve the safety of road users by developing safer road infrastructure engage with relevant stakeholders on the possibility of expanding and integrating reduced speed limits into high-risk areas (in particular, areas where people are used to do their daily activities).
